Sentences issued in Superior Court Feb. 4 - 11
The Barrow County Superior Court recently sentenced the following people. Those charged and their sentences are listed below. Charges listed as nolle prosequi are those in which the prosecutor or plaintiff indicated they would not proceed with the case. In criminal cases, a disposition of nolle prosequi may be entered when evidence proves innocence or charges cannot otherwise be proved.
The following sentences were issued as part of negotiated plea agreements on Feb. 4, 2010 with Superior Court Judge David Motes presiding:
• Jamarcus Watson, armed robbery: pled guilty to lesser included offense of robbery, first offender treatment, serve three years suspended upon 180 to 220 days in the detention center, 15 years probation, no contact with victim, $380 restitution and a $2,500 fine.
• Misty Burbage, possession of methamphetamine: four years probation and a $2,000 fine. Possession of cocaine and oxycodone: nolle prosequi.
The following sentences were issued as part of negotiated plea agreements on Feb. 10, 2010 with Superior Court Judge Joseph Booth presiding:
• Jose Sanchez, aggravated assault: 20 years probation, no contact with victim and a $1,500 fine. Aggravated battery: nolle prosequi.
• Tony Ray Morris, public intoxication and obstruction: two years probation less 45 days confinement and a $500 fine.
• Colin David Lewis, disorderly conduct and criminal trespass: two years probation, no violent contact with victim and a $1,000 fine.
• Michelle Martha Slaughter, aggravated assault and battery: ten years probation, no violent contact with victim and a $1,500 fine. Additional count of aggravated assault: nolle prosequi.
• Dawn Adams Pulliam, obtaining a controlled substance by forgery and obtaining a controlled substance by fraud: two years confinement, four years probation and a $2,000 fine. Possession of hydrocodone, additional count of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and two counts of attempt to obtain a controlled substance by fraud: nolle prosequi.
The following sentences were issued as part of negotiated plea agreements on Feb. 11, 2010 with Superior Court Judge T. Penn McWhorter presiding:
• Richard Wayne Slizewski, reckless driving and failure to stop at stop sign: two years probation, 40 hours of community service and a $1,000 fine. Failure to yield and permitting unlawful operation of a vehicle: nolle prosequi.
• Marcus Alan Pendley, obstruction: 12 months probation and a $500 fine.
• Ian J. Lord, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and contributing to the delinquency of a minor: two years probation, 40 hours of community service and a $1,250 fine. Posssession of a drug related object: nolle prosequi.
• Montecia Shaconna Marie Foster, battery: 12 months probation and a $500 fine. Additional count of battery: nolle prosequi.
• Daniel P. Hendsbee, battery: 12 months probation, no violent contact with victim and a $500 fine.
• David Aguilera, no insurance: 12 months probation and a $1,000 fine. Suspended registration: nolle prosequi.
• Colin Montgomery Hughes, public intoxication: 12 months probation and a $500 fine. Obstruction: nolle prosequi.
• Chastity House, disorderly conduct: 12 month probation, no contact with victims and a $500 fine.
• Bryan Anthony Harris, false report of a crime: 12 months probation and a $500 fine.
• Billy Mobley, DUI less safe: 12 months probation, 40 hours of community service and a $750 fine. DUI per se and failure to maintain lane: nolle prosequi.
• Melanie Ivey Cox, obstruction: 12 months probation and a $500 fine.
• Sanford Barry Farmer, disorderly conduct: 12 months probation less 24 hours confinement, no violent contact with victim and a $500 fine. Additional count of disorderly conduct and simple battery: nolle prosequi.
• Christopher R. Bird, three counts of disorderly conduct: three years probation, no violent contact with victim and a $1,000 fine. Three counts of simple battery: nolle prosequi.
• James Robert Puckett, battery: 12 months probation, no contact with victim and a $500 fine.
• Michael Jerome Jackson, simple battery: 12 months probation, no violent contact with victim and a $500 fine.
• Whitney Michelle Hunter, disorderly conduct: 12 months probation, no violent contact with victim and a $500 fine. Battery: nolle prosequi.
• Justin Wayne Burgess, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct 12 months probation less seven days confinement and an $800 fine. Two counts of simple assault: nolle prosequi.
• Brandy Rebecca Whitton, theft by shoplifting, 12 months probation and a $500 fine. Additional count of theft by shoplifting: 12 months probation, 60 hours of community service and a $250 fine.
• Freddie Thurmond, sexual battery: 12 months probation, no contact with victim and a $500 fine.
• Stephen Crimmins, statutory rape: 12 months probation, no contact with victim and a $500 fine.
• Kimberly Starr Mullins, simple battery: 12 months probation, no violent contact with victim and parenting classes. Family violence battery: 12 months probation, no violent contact with victim, parenting classes and a $500 fine.
• Hugh D. Gingerich, habitual violator, no insurance and DUI less safe: two years probation, 40 hours of community service and a $2,250 fine. Suspended license and speeding: nolle prosequi.
• Jose Luis Ramirez, suspended license and failure to yield: 12 months probation less ten days confinement and a $1,000 fine.
• David Junior Pittman, battery: 12 months probation, no violent contact with victim and a $500 fine. Additional count of battery: nolle prosequi.
• James Ronald Nichols, disorderly conduct and family violence battery: 12 months probation, no violent contact with victim and a $1,000 fine. Two additional counts of family violence battery: nolle prosequi.
• Aaron Heath Lee, reckless driving: 12 months probation, defensive driving course and a $750 fine.
• Davis Bentley, simple battery: 12 months probation, no contact with victim, $313 in restitution and a $750 fine.
• Robert Douglas Dyer, DUI per se and DUI less safe merged to charge of DUI less safe: 12 months probation, 40 hours of community service and a $1,000 fine. Failure to maintain lane: nolle prosequi. Simple battery: 12 months probation, no contact with victim and a $300 fine.
