The pool has been narrowed to four.
The Barrow County Board of Education has announced its four finalists for the superintendent’s position following a meeting Monday night, among them Westside Middle School principal Eli Welch.

Also announced as finalists were:
•Marcia Clanton, executive director of high schools, Chatham School System, Savannah;
•Wanda Creel, assistant superintendent for teaching and learning, Houston County School System in Perry;
•Thomas Van Soelen, associate superintendent, City Schools of Decatur.
All four candidates have doctorates in education.
The new superintendent will replace Ron Saunders, who has announced his retirement.
Saunders has agreed to remain as superintendent until his replacement his hired and to continue working during the transition if necessary.
The new superintendent will be selected at a later date.

I vote for Eli Welch. No, I'm not a teacher, nor do I have children in public school, but I do substitute teach and I've been REALLY impressed with him.
