Nobody is more supportive of quality local leadership than this newspaper.
But when politics gets injected in some issues, distortions of the truth often outweigh reality and leaders get unfairly branded.

Sounds like Mr. Ballard's gone through enough and has turned his life around. Leave him alone and focus on what he is/is not doing on the BOE and base your vote on that.

Let the voters decide who is the best candidates regardless of of their party affiliation, Democrat, Republican or Independent.

My husband looks at the online news every wednesday and forwarded me the article. I immediately called Mr. Ballard to tell him if he found out who sent this e mail or was behind it to let me know. I do not believe nor have never attacked anyones family. There is plenty to go on based on the record in office. Larry said he had planned on not running again but this made him mad and he was definately going to run. I also asked him since when did an email with no name get any notice. We always trashed them. If you don't have the guts to put your name on it then don't send it. He said that he is the one that had to "beg" the newspapers to write this aricle. He states he tried to do it 4 years ago. I was made aware of his drinking problems by a current board members spouse who knew Mr. Ballard well when he qualified to run against me 4 years ago. I also was told by many who knew him from AA. None the less I never brought it up. It does leave one wondering now who really wrote the letter. Did Mr. Ballard really intend on running and was afraid someone else may come out of the woodwork? I don't know this paper says he had planed on running again. He told me specifically he did not. Lets just look at AYP status over the last 4 years. Lets look at Graduation rates over the last 4 years. Lets look at Drop out rates over the last 4 years. Then decide to back him again or back someone else but not on his past. I hate to think someone would possibly stage this to get people to feel sorry for them and keep someone else from running. I hope that is not the case. Either way it stinks I wish someone who has their kids in the school system and is involved would run from this district.
