Unlocked vehicles were once again targeted in a series of entering autos within the Winder city limits.
An opportunistic thief or thieves stole navigation units from three separate vehicles.
A Magellan Roadmate GPS unit was taken from a 1998 Toyota Tacoma on West Midland Avenue. A Garmin Nuvi GPS unit was removed from a 2003 Toyota 4-Runner at the same location.
Two days later, a TomTom navigation unit was stolen from an unlocked Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on Williamsburg Way.
Several other vehicles were also entered during the past week.
An unlocked car was entered on Fall View Court. Ten dollars in change was reported missing. No other items of value were removed from the vehicle.
An insurance card was taken from a vehicle on Graham Street. The owner said the front seat was reclined as if someone had been sleeping in the car.
On Jan. 27, a woman noticed that her wallet was missing from the trunk of her car. The wallet contained $200 along with her bank cards and checks. The woman was not sure where the theft occurred.
On Jan. 28, a set of speakers were taken from a vehicle parked behind an East May Street business. The owner said the vehicle was locked, but the officer could find no signs of forced entry.
Other recent incidents investigated by Winder Police include:
• private property accident on Monroe Highway. A woman said she noticed there were two text messages on her cell phone and the next thing she knew she had struck a light pole in the parking lot.
• domestic dispute on Baskins Circle. A man called police because his daughter wanted to visit with a man who had previously been arrested for beating her.
• domestic dispute on Courtyard Circle. A stepson became angry that his stepmother would not give him a ride to the methadone clinic.
• verbal dispute on Wood Avenue. A woman said she was tired of arguing with her boyfriend over what property belonged to whom and wanted him to leave.
• verbal dispute on Natchez Circle. A husband and wife argued over videos the woman sent to another male.
• harassment on Oceanliner Drive. A father reported that his adult son had been harassing him.
• recovered stolen property on South Broad Street. A stolen PSP was returned to its owner after being pawned at a local store.
• complaint on Grier Road. A man contacted police because he fears his 78-year-old mother’s new 49-year-old boyfriend is a con man.
• theft on Lumpkin Street. A car battery was stolen from a 1985 Ford Crown Victoria.
• trespassing on North Broad Street. A man who had been barred from a business entered the store.
