ATHENS – Helen Nelms Tanksley, 75, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010.

A lifelong resident of the Athens area she was employed at the Athens Banner Herald for many years.

Survivors include a son, Chuck Williams; sister, Joan (Bob) Whitehead; brothers, Jimmy (Martha) Nelms and Johnny (Sarah) Nelms; grandson, Christopher Williams; and great-grandchildren, Alyssa Williams and Leah McCoy.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 28, with the Rev. Ronnie Healan officiating.

Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Athens, was in charge of arrangements.
