On Jan. 16, members of the Barrow County CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) met to recognize the team’s accomplishments and dedication to serving Barrow County communities.
Bob Richardson , C.E.R.T. president since 2007, presented 19 awards to individuals who have dedicated their time to develop the team and give back to the community.
Those honored for their participation included Carrie Enriquez, Cal Neff, Adul Keomahathai, Michael Wilson, Gary Nash, Laura Clark, Chris Sullivan, Mary Bryant, Rick Thomford, Shannon Baxter, Brian Keener, Connie Keener, William Bryant, Donna Richardson, Janet Jeanes, Frank Fahey and Forrest Brooks.
C.E.R.T. trains throughout the year to be prepared to help county first responders in the event of an emergency or disaster event.
The next C.E.R.T. class is scheduled to begin Feb. 11 at 7p.m. The eight weeks class is designed to teach participants how to help and protect family and community members in an emergency situation.
