Lonely woman attempts to run down husband

Deputies were dispatched to 203 Deer Walk Drive after the woman’s brother-in-law called 911 to report the incident.

The brother-in-law said he and his brother Joseph Weldy, 30, of 222 Deer Walk Drive in Winder, were attempting to go to work when Joseph’s wife, Renae Weldy, 32, came to the residence and began chasing the two men around the yard with her red Ford Explorer.

Both Joseph and Renae Weldy left the scene before deputies arrived.

The deputy made contact with Renae Weldy at 222 Deer Walk Drive. The deputy noted that Renae’s eyes were red and swollen and that she had been crying. When the deputy asked why she was upset, Renae said she did not want Joseph to go to work. She said she went to her brother-in-law’s house to get her husband.

Renae admitted driving across her brother-in-law’s yard towards her husband. She justified her actions by saying no one in her family wanted to help her and that she felt alone.

When the deputy asked where her husband Joseph was, Renae said “He’s walking around here somewhere.” The deputy later found Joseph hiding in a closet. Joseph claimed he was hiding from his wife.

Joseph said he and his wife were about to lose their house, both cell phones had been shut off and he just wanted to go to work. The deputy then discovered that an outstanding warrant for Joseph’s arrest out of Gwinnett County.

Joseph Weldy was arrested for probation violation and Renae Weldy was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of criminal trespass. Both were transported to the Barrow County Detention Center.
