Ex-con steals car from shelter operators
A Hoschton man called the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office after an ex-convict borrowed a car and failed to return it.
The man and his wife operate a shelter for ex-convicts called Meet the Needs Ministry.
According to the victim, the shelter operates several homes with very strict guidelines. Tenants are required to sign documents indicating they understand that failure to follow the guidelines may result in criminal charges being filed.
The suspect reportedly asked to borrow one of the ministry vehicles so that he could take his daughter to a movie. The victim called four days later when the suspect still had not returned the vehicle.
The victim was able to provide a copy of the suspect’s license.
