Vandals smash car window, windshield
The side window and windshield of a 2000 Honda CRV were smashed when vandals struck a Rivermist Court residence.
The homeowner reported hearing a loud crashing noise. When she looked outside, she saw a dark colored vehicle speeding away from her home.
At the time of the incident, the victim’s vehicle was parked in the driveway only a couple of feet from her garage door.
The woman said she had no enemies and no idea who would have wanted to damage her property.
The estimated cost to repair the damage is $350.
Other incidents investigated by Barrow County Sheriff’s deputies this past week include:
• theft on Dee Kennedy Road. Two galvanized steel gates valued at $180 were stolen from a construction site.
• theft of services on Wages Road. A deputy was dispatched to assist an Auburn Water Authority employee in dealing with a customer who had not paid her bill.
• theft of services on Patrick Mill Road. A customer known only as “Big Head” left a restaurant without paying his $47 tab. The suspect left the scene in a black Chevrolet SUV.
• theft by taking on Smith Mill Road. An Xbox controller was reported missing.
• theft by taking on Autry Road. Two four wheelers and a utility trailer valued at $7,100 were reported stolen.
• suspicious persons on Raymond Drive. A homeowner reported seeing three males standing in the driveway of a vacant house. The men ran when the homeowner walked outside.
• suspicious incident on Double Bridges Road. A woman became concerned that a prowler might be in her yard after her dog began barking.
• suspicious incident on Chicken Lyle Road. A woman said someone opened her screen door and slammed it shut. She did not see anyone in the area.
• simple assault on Harmony Grove Church Road. A deputy was dispatched in response to a road rage incident.
• shoplifting on Loganville Highway. A white male fled from the Shell Food Mart in a white Chevrolet Caprice after stealing a 36-pack of Budweiser valued at approximated $26.
• open door on Carmon Court. A homeowner accidentally left the door open when he went to work.
• lost property on Atlanta Highway. A woman lost her wallet which she said contained $2,000, credit cards, a debit card, a college identification card and her driver’s license.
• harassment on Wylie McGuire Road. A woman reported being harassed by the father of her child.
• harassment on Loganville Highway. A store manager asked for help after a terminated employee began harassing him and other employees of the store.
• harassing phone calls on Raymond Drive. A woman reported receiving several calls and text messages from the mother of her husband’s child.
• harassing phone calls on Peace Circle. A woman reported receiving harassing texts and phone calls from another female.
• harassing phone calls on Creekwood Road. A man received threatening phone calls from a man who wants to beat him.
• fraud on Wellington Drive. A man reported unauthorized activity on his Visa credit card account.
• fraud on Peace Circle. A woman reported that someone had opened a credit card account using her name.
• fraud on Brandenberry Lane. A man received a call from a Maryland law enforcement agency advising that his social security number had been used by a Hispanic male.
• entering auto on Hancock Bridge Road. Several items were stolen from a Ford F-150 stored in an impound lot.
• dog bite on Ansley Court. A dog was bitten by two other dogs when it escaped from its owner and ran into a neighboring yard.
• disorderly conduct on Loganville Highway. A drunken woman was arrested after using profanity and racial slurs in front of her young children.
• criminal trespass on Progress Drive. Employees of a business reported seeing a man fishing in their pond without permission.
• criminal trespass on Old Thompson Mill Road. A Chevrolet Trailblazer was damaged.
• criminal trespass on Manning Gin Road. A resident reported seeing a man standing in front of a house and looking in the front window.
• criminal trespass on Atlanta Highway. A man blamed his ex-girlfriend for causing damage to his vehicle. Several witnesses corroborated the ex-girlfriend’s account that she was nowhere near the man’s vehicle when the damage reportedly occurred.
• complaint on Slayton Drive. A man complained that his estranged wife was dating one of his family members and leaving their children with her parents while she did so.
• complaint on Laurel Lane. A homeowner reported hearing gun fire in the area.
• complaint on Langdon Park Court. A woman reported receiving numerous text messages from her ex-boyfriend who is seeking reconciliation.
• complaint on Boss Hardy Road. A woman wanted to press charges after her husband was beaten by another man. The deputy informed the woman that her husband would have to call if he wanted to press charges.
• civil dispute on Mill Creek Road. After paying $9,500 for what he believed to be a 2006 Hummer H2, the purchaser learned the vehicle was a stolen 2003 Hummer H2.
• burglary on Wexford Way. A rear window was broken in an attempt to steal items from the residence.
• burglary on Patrick Mill Road. A Magnavox television, DTV converter, DVD player, digital antenna, checks and porcelain valued at $729 was stolen from the residence. The burglar entered through an unlocked side window.
• burglary on Highway 82. Several items were stolen from a barn.
• burglary on Highway 82. A food stamp card valued at $3 was stolen.
• 911 hang up on Smokerise Lane. Several juveniles were “hanging out” at a residence when one of the juveniles decided it would be funny to call 911.
• 911 hang up on Old Hog Mountain Road. A woman said she inadvertently dialed 911 when attempting to retrieve voice messages from her new phone.
• 911 hang up on Monroe Highway. The homeowner said she dialed 911 accidentally.
