Drunken man flees after head-on collision

The victim was a passenger in a Cadillac Deville travelling eastbound on Atlanta Highway. As the vehicle approached Hardigree Road, it was struck head-on by a small green passenger car. The driver of the green vehicle left the scene without rendering aid or providing any information.

Deputies soon located a small green vehicle with front end damage on East Midland Avenue. The driver, Henry Quintero, 30, of 452 East Midland Avenue in Winder, was located inside a trailer at the location.

Deputies noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on Quintero’s breath. According to the report, Quintero had bloodshot and glassy eyes and could “barely keep a thought pattern.” The deputy wrote that Quintero rambled about several different things at one time.

Quintero was arrested on charges including DUI and hit and run and transported to the Barrow County Detention Center.

On Dec. 31, deputies arrested another drunken driver on Parks Mill Road near Harmony Grove Church Road.

The arresting deputy witnessed the driver operating his vehicle at a high rate of speed and failing to drive within his lane.

As the deputy stopped the vehicle, he saw only the driver, Joseph James Marchman, 29, of 1198 Post Gate Lane in Lawrenceville, inside the car. As the deputy approached the vehicle, a female “popped up” from the middle passenger side area.

When the deputy reached the vehicle, he noticed an odor of alcoholic beverage on Marchman’s breath and person. Marchman’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy and there was an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The deputy asked Marchman to exit the vehicle. The deputy noted that Marchman’s pants were unzipped and hanging down near his buttocks.

Marchman failed field sobriety evaluations and was placed under arrest for DUI.
