A man and his girlfriend were arrested after a drunken argument turned physical.
Paula J. Cote, 55, of 1507 Union Court in Auburn, called police after her boyfriend, Steven Scott Barstow, 47, also of 1507 Union Court, struck her during a confrontation.
When police arrived at the residence, they noticed both parties appeared intoxicated.
Barstow told police that Cote struck him on the arm several times after learning that Barstow was talking with a former girlfriend on the phone.
Cote admitted hitting Barstow on the arm and said he then struck her in the face and held her down on the bed against her will.
The investigating officer noticed that Cote had a bruise under her left eye. Barstow had no visible injuries.
Both were charged with family violence simple battery and transported to the Barrow County Detention Center.

• Joseph Doyle Kennedy, 58, 1380 Moriah Trace, Auburn, DUI, fleeing and attempting to elude, failure to obey an authorized person directing traffic and driving while license suspended or revoked.
• Tara Lynn Morgan, 25, 1601 Summit Ridge, Auburn, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.
• William Alvis Jones Jr., 23, 316 Carter Road, Auburn, failure to appear.
