With two wins in recent contests, Winder-Barrow High School girls basketball coach Brenda Hill hopes her Lady Bulldoggs are now getting on track.
After a slow start to the 2009-2010 season, WBHS posted wins against Monroe Area and Southwest Atlanta Christian in recent days and is “playing good basketball,” Hill said.
“The last games our kids have played smart basketball,” the Lady Bulldogg coach said. “We are managing the clock better and gotten some eay baskets. We are moving the basketball around and getting it where it needs to be.”
In games aearlier this season, Hill said her team would have a lead but would not be patient enough and see the lead slip away.
“We have grown up a lot in the last week and a half,” the coach said. “I have been pleased with the growth we have shown.”
As an example, Hill said it’s important to play smart when opposing teams are pressing.
“You tend to get caught up in what they are doing,” she said. “You start rushing. Even when the game changes, you don’t have to rush. I kept telling the kids they weren’t playing bad. It’s just they were playing teams who were better than they were last year.”
The Lady Bulldoggs will not play again until the Deep South Tournament hosted by Brookwood Dec. 28-30.
