Four more cases of entering auto were reported to Winder Police during the past week.
A vehicle parked in the back parking lot of the Winder Police Department was reportedly entered on Dec. 4. A friend of the vehicle owner initially called to report the incident. The investigating officer asked to speak with the vehicle owner. The owner agreed to speak with the officer and said a friend had called to tell him his vehicle had been entered. The vehicle owner would not disclose the name of the friend.
When the officer went to the parking lot to investigate, he discovered the 1984 Chevrolet Caprice had a smashed passenger side window. A tire iron was located inside the vehicle and is believed to have been used to smash the window. A CD player and a DVD player had been taken from the vehicle.
Video surveillance footage of the parking lot had not been reviewed at the time of the report.
Another entering auto was reported the following day. A South Jackson Street resident reported several items stolen from her 1997 Chrysler Concorde. The woman advised that the thieves likely gained access through an unsecured rear window. A Nintendo DS system, crock pot, tool set, skateboard and change were taken from the vehicle.
Thieves struck another unsecured vehicle on Griffith Street. The victim reported leaving her 2005 Ford Mustang unlocked with her purse and money inside the vehicle. The victim’s aunt also had several items stolen from the vehicle including a laptop computer, clothing and beauty products.
Three days later, a wallet, a carton of cigarettes and a blank $150 money order was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Pinkston Oaks Circle. The wallet contained the victim’s driver’s license and social security card.
There was no damage to the vehicle and no evidence obtained from the scene.
