The City of Winder’s annual Christmas Parade is scheduled for this Saturday, Dec. 5, at 4 p.m.
The parade begins at the Ingles on Broad Street and passes through downtown. The parade will turn left onto East Athens before ending at the Winder Community Center.
Over 76 entrants are registered to participate in this year’s parade making it one of the biggest in the history of the event. As part of the parade, members of the Winder Community Theater will be performing a short version of the “Little Town of Christmas” on the stage near the People’s Bank.
The theme of this year’s parade is “Toyland in Our Home Town.” Parade spectators are invited to bring a new, unwrapped toy to be placed under the Winder Christmas tree at the community center. The toys will be donated to Toys for Tots in Barrow County. Volunteers will also be collecting canned goods for the Barrow County Food Pantry.
The community center will also be the site of the “Toyland in Our Home Town” craft fair. Several children’s activities will be available and visitors will have the opportunity to have pictures made with Santa Claus. The craft fair runs from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Food vendors will be stationed along the parade route and at the community center.
The event is free to the public.
