A two-year-old Winder child was killed Sunday when the vehicle driven by her father, Brian Gray, 31, was rear-ended on I-85 northbound near exit 18 in Troup County.
Gray was transported to West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange and his wife Pamela was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center where she remains hospitalized. Their daughter Helen died in the collision.
The driver of the other vehicle, Luke Waters, was treated at the scene.
Gray was driving a Honda minivan when he was rear-ended by Waters’ Chevy Tahoe. The accident occurred at 4:40 p.m. and resulted in the closure of all northbound lanes.
Sgt. Maurice Raines of the Georgia State Patrol said the investigation is still in the preliminary stages.
“We’re still working on getting everything together,” he said.
GSP’s Specialized Collision Response Team is handling the investigation.
