Lady Bulldoggs return several key players

Several names jump out upon looking at the Winder-Barrow High School Lady Bulldoggs roster for 2009-2010.

Names such as Lauren Hamill, Rebecca Autry, Courtney Miller, Mimi Hill, Brittany Witt and Shant Finch are back for this season after just missing out on the state tournament a year ago.

“We hope to be a contender in the region,” said coach Brenda Hill. “There will be some strong teams this season. We are looking to accomplish a lot. We had a good season last year and want to build off that.”

Coach Hill said several teams in the region should be formidable foes including Clarke Central, Cedar Shoals, Salem, Heritage and Loganville.

“On any given night, any team is going to present a challenge,” the coach said.

The Lady Bulldoggs defeated East Hall in a preseason scrimmage but fell to Greater Atlanta Christian at the Jefferson High School tournament Saturday.

“We are still working some things out,” Hill said. “We are looking to get more consistency.”
