The Auburn City Council will hold a public hearing on a request by the owner of Old Peachtree Montessori School to reduce some buffer requirements at its Feb. 2 meeting. The city’s planning and zoning department has recommended that the council approve the change.

Community & Southern Bank closing one Winder branch

The Carrollton-based bank that a year ago picked up all but a few of Peoples Bank’s properties is closing one of its Winder branches. Pat McGoldrick, director of business banking for Community and Southern Bank, said the branch at 279 N. Broad St. near the Ingles Market would close April 27.

WBHS graduate suspect in metal theft case

A sheriff’s deputy responding to a metal theft at a Winder grading company found two backpacks full of stolen metal and concrete and a wallet containing a high school diploma that belonged to one of the two who have been charged in connection to the thefts. [Full Story »]
