Hot weather makes gardens grow. Hot, wet weather makes diseased gardens. And if any vegetable plant is going to contract a disease it is going to be your tomatoes. Leaf spots, blights, wilts, and viruses can end your tomato sandwich season early. Even if they do not kill the plant they defoliate the plant which reduces the productivity. [Full Story »]

Auburn to host Independence Day celebration July 2 and 3

The City of Auburn will host a two-day celebration in honor of Independence Day.

The festival begins July 2 at 3 p.m. with vendors and activities near City Hall, located at 1369 Fourth Avenue in Auburn.

Veterans are invited to stop by the City of Auburn’s tent for water and snacks throughout the day. At 5 p.m., all veterans are invited to the stage for a special salute.

At 8 p.m., the city will host a “Beach Party” featuring the Full House Band.
