Man defies deputy, is arrested

The deputy was dispatched to a Howell Trace residence after a woman reported that her ex-boyfriend, Jason Haney, age 32 of 345 Oakdale Road in Auburn, would not stop calling her.

Though the woman had repeatedly asked Haney to stop calling, he continued to do so.

According to the victim, the harassment had escalated to the point that she could not sleep without being awakened by Haney’s calls.

While the deputy was speaking with the victim, Haney called. After identifying himself, the deputy warned Haney to stop calling the victim and advised that a report regarding the harassing phone calls would be filed.

Haney then said he did not believe the deputy could tell him who he could call.

The deputy again told Haney that the victim did not want him to speak with him and that he should not make any further calls to the residence.

Within minutes of hanging up the phone, Haney called again. The victim answered and once again told Haney to stop calling. After that call ended, Haney called six more times while the deputy was taking the report.

During one of the calls, the deputy asked Haney where he was. Haney provided an address.

After leaving the victim’s residence, the deputy went to Haney’s location and arrested him for harassing phone calls.
