Man argues with law, law wins
A Winder man was arrested after refusing to cooperate with a deputy responding to a domestic dispute.
The deputy was dispatched to 184 Chapel Bush Road in Winder after a woman called saying her brother, Demetrio Young, 35, would not leave her room.
The woman said she and Young began arguing when he asked for $20. She refused to give him money because she said Young has stolen from family members before and uses the money to buy drugs. The woman said Young had been drinking beer and liquor all day.
When the deputy arrived, Young met him at the front door with a beer in hand. Young said the deputy could enter and then closed the door in the deputy’s face saying he had to knock first because he had no probable cause to enter the residence.
The deputy opened the door and explained that since he had been called there, he had to investigate. The deputy asked for Young to stop yelling so that he could speak with the complainant.
Young informed the deputy that he could not talk to him and proceeded to go through the house asking who called the Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy warned Young that he needed to calm himself and stop hindering the investigation.
Young then became “very loud and irate.” Young then said he was in charge and the deputy needed a warrant to speak with him. Young further advised the deputy that he was going to his bedroom to sleep and the deputy “better not wake him.”
Young was arrested and charged with obstruction.
