Firefighters with Barrow County Emergency Services will be holding a boot drive fundraiser this weekend.
From Nov. 5-7, firefighters will be on street corners around the county collecting donations. Proceeds will benefit the Barrow County Children after the Fire and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
“The money that you give will help many others in their time of need,” said boot drive coordinator Lieutenant Ernest Weant.
Despite the economic downturn and its effect on Barrow citizens, firefighters are optimistic that the boot drive will be a success.
“The citizens have always come out in force to help us in our efforts to help others,” said Weant. “We are hoping this time will be no different, especially where the money they donate will help so many of their fellow Barrow County citizens.”
To make a donation, stop at any corner where you see firefighters holding boots. Donations will also be accepted at any Barrow County fire stations. Checks should be made payable to the Barrow Fire Foundation.
“Please come out and support us,” said Weant. “With your help we can make this a successful Boot Drive.”
