Two local men died in separate vehicle accidents on Auburn Road (Ga. Hwy. 324) in the past week, according to Gwinnett police.
Timothy Christopher, Auburn, 45, was killed on Friday when he failed to yield as he drove his 2007 Honda Accord as it turned onto Auburn Road from Belfaire Trace, police said.
The Accord was hit in the intersection by a 2004 Hummer H2, which was traveling northbound on Auburn Road.
Christopher died at the scene as a result of his injuries. A passenger received serious injuries and was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center, where she was last reported in critical condition.
The driver of the Hummer H2 received minor injuries, and was treated and released at the scene.
In another accident on Sunday, 21-year-old Robert R. Wilson, Auburn, was killed in a single-vehicle wreck on Auburn Road, east of Fence Road in Dacula.
Police said Wilson was driving a 2006 Toyota Scion TC east on Auburn Road, when he was negotiating a curve at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and hit a tree.
Wilson was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center, where he later died of the injuries he received in the crash.
Gwinnett police are still investigating if alcohol or drugs were a contributing factor of the wreck. Police are waiting for toxicology results.
