Sentences issued in Superior Court
The Barrow County Superior Court sentenced the following people during the past week. Those charged and their sentences are listed below. Charges listed as nolle prosequi are those in which the prosecutor or plaintiff indicated they would not proceed with the case. In criminal cases, a disposition of nolle prosequi may be entered when evidence proves innocence or charges cannot otherwise be proved.
The following sentence was issued as part of negotiated plea agreement on October 19, 2009 with Superior Court Judge Currie Mingledorff presiding:
• Brenda Smith, gambling, keeping a gambling house, disorderly conduct and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana: 12 months probation and $2,000 fine.
The following sentences were issued as part of negotiated plea agreements on October 26, 2009 with Superior Court Judge Currie Mingledorff presiding:
• Janiero D. Lyles, trafficking cocaine: pled guilty to the lesser offense of possession with intent to distribute. Sentences as first offender to four years confinement, 11 years probation and $5,000 fine. Possession of controlled substance within 1,000 feet of public housing and gambling: nolle prosequi.
• Landeeze Artagus Sims, aggravated assault, battery and criminal trespass: eight years confinement, seven years probation, no contact with victim and $700 fine. Six counts of cruelty to children: nolle prosequi.
• Kennedy Carroll, first degree forgery: three years confinement, seven years probation, no contact with victim, $1,632 in restitution and $1,000 fine.
• Alicia Bailey, theft by shoplifting: 12 months confinement.
• Robert Jason Helton, aggravated assault and battery: two years confinement, eight years probation, no contact with victim and $1,000 fine. Family violence battery and obstruction of a 911 call: 12 months probation on each count to be served concurrent with other sentence.
• William Landon Wilder, pointing or aiming a gun or pistol at another and simple assault: 12 months probation, possession of firearms prohibited during probation and $1,000 fine. Terroristic threats and acts: nolle prosequi.
• Brenda Kay Gray, stalking: 12 months probation, no contact with victims and $500 fine.
• David Mark Thomas Jr., simple assault: 90 days confinement, nine months probation, no violent contact with victim and $500 fine.
• Bradley Allen Krekemeyer, theft by conversion: 12 months probation less 20 days confinement, no contact with victim and $500 fine.
The following sentences were issued as part of negotiated plea agreements on October 28, 2009 with Superior Court Judge David Motes presiding:
• Dwayne Raymond Howard, criminal use of article with altered serial number and carrying concealed weapon: Five years probation less 45 days confinement and $1,500 fine.
• Derrick Blackwell, trafficking cocaine and sale of cocaine: pled guilty to lesser included offense of possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Sentenced to two years confinement, eight years probation and $2,500 fine.
• Donquarius Joetarius Reddish, possession of cocaine: ten years probation and $1,000 fine.
• Terry Scott Kitchens, VGCSA methamphetamine: six years probation and $1,000 fine.
• Stacey Jenkins, burglary: ten years probation, 40 hours of community service, no contact with victim and $2,000 fine. Possession of tools for commission of a crime: nolle prosequi.
• Amber Lee Treadway, financial transaction card fraud: three years probation, no contact with victim, $592 restitution and $1,000 fine. Burglary, two counts theft by receiving stolen property and additional count of financial transaction card fraud: nolle prosequi.
• Tracy Shannon Banks, disorderly conduct: 12 months probation less 90 days confinement, no violent contact with victim and $500 fine. Driving while license suspended or revoked: 12 months probation and $50 fine. Hit and run and driving while license suspended: Five years probation less 90 days confinement, $3,990 restitution and $1,000 fine.
• Richard Kent Barrick, burglary: three years confinement, 12 years probation and $1,500 fine.
• Steve Wilson Hanson, aggravated assault: two years confinement, eight years probation, no contact with victim and $2,000 fine.
• Roberto Barajas, aggravated assault and battery: 12 months probation, no contact with victim and $2,000 fine.
• Carlos Dewayne Pickett, criminal trespass: 12 months probation, no contact with victim and $1,000 fine.
• Anthony Antonio Davis, two counts first degree cruelty to children: 12 months probation, no contact with victims and $1,000 fine.
