SPD investigating armed robbery

A lone gunman entered the business just before 9 p.m. After stealing an undetermined amount of cash, the suspect fled on foot. There were no injuries reported in the incident.

The suspect is described as a black male, 18 to 30 years of age, approximately 5’7” tall and of thin build. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing beige pants and a black hoodie with white stars.

Other incidents investigated by Statham Police this past week include:

• a traffic accident on Atlanta Highway at 8th Street. No injuries were reported.

• recovery of a counterfeit bill at an Atlanta Highway business.

• a burglary at a Ventura Street address. A stereo system was reported stolen.

• criminal trespass on Atlanta Highway resulting from a verbal confrontation.

• two incidents of theft by taking involving political signs.

• a report of harassing phone calls.

Statham Police arrested one individual last week. Jason Randall Allen, age 26 of 308 Lumpkin Street in Winder, was arrested after a traffic stop on 8th Street. Allen was charged with DUI, speeding and endangerment of a child under the age of 14.

For the week, Statham Police issued a total of 11 citations and two warnings.
