Barrow County Republican Party Chairman Ken Young said 2009 has been an unusual year.
According to Young, the party typically spends a post-election year focusing on re-organization and preparation for the next election. Young said 2009 has been different.
“Normally after an election year, things back off but we’re going full blast,” he said.
The Barrow County GOP has experienced a record membership year, Young said. The 2009 year-to-date membership of 134 is a new odd year record for the party. The party has also set new records with 113 renewals and 17 members at the Barrow 100 membership level.
“We appreciate your support of the local party,” Young said at the October 19 GOP meeting.
Young emphasized that the party must continue to fight liberalism and democrats over the important issues currently facing the country.
“We’ve got to keep the pressure up,” he said.
The next meeting of the Barrow County Republican Party will be held Monday, November 16 at 7:30 p.m.. Gubernatorial candidate Austin Scott will be the guest speaker.
The Barrow GOP meets at 15 West Midland Avenue in the Winder Woman’s Club.

They're turning the opposition into a figure to be destroyed rather than recognizing them as a collection of human beings who only disagree on a handful of issues.
Why must they "fight" democrats? Why not "work together on solutions to common concerns"?
This negative approach does no one any good, and at no point in human history has it been productive in the long term for anyone who takes that approach.
If the local and national GOP continue down this path, it will hurt all Americans in the long term, and continue to marginalize the party for the foreseeable future.
Democrats and "liberals" aren't faceless concepts, and you only harm your country by looking at these and any people that way. This outlook certainly exists on the other side, but it's not being championed by the leaders of any group with notable influence.

That aside, the White House responding to Fox doesn't affect Fox's ability to respond to the White House's response to Fox.
That's not real news. Yet I guarantee you everyone at the Barrow County GOP meeting lives and dies by what is said on Fox. How sad and pathetic is that?
You might not get the die-hards to reconsider, but moderates listen to evidence-based arguments. On the flip side, moderates will ignore uncited claims and be pushed further to the extremes.
