The Winder-Barrow High School band will hold its annual Bulldogg Band Thriller 5k run/walk and one mile fun run on Saturday, October 24.
Fundraising coordinator Leslie Oubre said the event raises funds to support the WBHS band program.
“It is a great way to help the students at Winder-Barrow and have a lot of fun while you do it,” she said.
The one mile fun run will begin at 8 a.m.. The 5k will follow at 8:30 a.m.. Both begin at Winder Barrow High School.
The 5k route will follow North Fifth Avenue to Marion Street onto West Candler Street. From there, the route will follow Green Valley Drive to Northcrest Drive onto North Avenue. Runners will then turn back onto North Fifth Avenue and proceed to Marion Street. The race will end at W. Clair Harris Stadium.
After the race, the band will hold a Thriller Block Party until 11 a.m.. Events include face painting, pumpkin decorating, a moon walk, duck pond and other children’s games. There will also be a costume contest for the younger children.
Oubre hopes to have a good turnout for Saturday’s event.
“We are hoping to see some runners and walkers come out and join us and have fun, that’s what this event is all about,” she said.
