Sentences issued in Superior Court

Those charged and their sentences are listed below. Charges listed as nolle prosequi are those in which the prosecutor or plaintiff indicated they would not proceed with the case. In criminal cases, a disposition of nolle prosequi may be entered when evidence proves innocence or charges cannot otherwise be proved. The following sentences were issued as part of negotiated plea agreements on October 8, 2009 with senior Superior Court judge T. Penn McWhorter presiding:

• David Root, DUI, open container, expired tag and tire requirements: pled guilty to lesser included offense of reckless driving and was sentenced to 12 months probation, 240 hours of community service and $1,950 fine.

• Jessica Patrice Eldridge, theft by taking: 12 months probation and $300 fine. Public drunkenness and obstruction: 12 months probation and $500 fine. Disorderly conduct: nolle prosequi.

• Jason Derrick Jones, speeding: 12 months probation and $500 fine. Obstruction: nolle prosequi.
