The National Weather Service has issued a “significant weather alert” Monday for Jackson, Madison, Banks and Barrow counties due to heavy rain in the area.
The NWS warns that runoff from the rain can cause minor flooding of creeks and roads.
Meanwhile, the Middle Oconee River near Arcade is expected to crest in flood stage Monday night into Tuesday. The predicted crest is 19.5'. Flood stage is 16'.
