Statham Police arrested a Winder man after a single car wreck this past weekend.
The accident occurred Sunday morning at approximately 4:45 a.m. on Atlanta Highway near Mulberry Street.
The man, Hal Palmer of Winder, told police he flipped his car after swerving to miss a deer.
When police arrived at the scene, they found Palmer partially ejected from the vehicle. Palmer appeared unconscious at first, but responded to questions from the investigating officer.
Palmer denied being intoxicated, but admitted having a “couple of beers.”
After complaining of leg pain, Palmer was transported to Athens Regional where he was released later that day.
Palmer was charged with DUI less safe and driving on a suspended license.
Other arrests made by Statham Police this past week include:
• Ross Simms, 30, 2289 County Road 188, Marion Junction, Ala., driving while license suspended, speeding and driving with suspended registration.
• Steven William Nolan, 22, 141 Double Branches Road, Tate, public drunkenness.
• Robert Anderson (age and address unlisted), probation violation.
