Dear Editor:
The Sept. 23 issue of the Barrow Journal reported the story of a 78-year-old Barrow county woman who was investigated and ordered out of her home by agents of the Department of Homeland Security for remarks that she made to an FCC employee concerning her digital television converter box.
Annoyed with the poor reception on her TV, she joked with the FCC employee that she’d like to “shoot the son-of-a-gun that messed up my damned television.” Her remarks sound a lot like the remarks that my own grandmother might have made if she had been in a similar situation.
LETTER: Investigation was waste of money
This incident has all of the markings of a government operation. Big government has no conscience and therefore no remorse or common sense. Government agents can say “we were just doing our job” and they are off the hook for what was clearly a stupid act. My initial reaction was that the almighty federal government should make restitution to Ms. Whitehead in the form of free cable or satellite service, but that would mean that it would actually be the taxpayers footing the bill.
Instead, I challenge one of the cable or satellite providers to offer to help out Beth Whitehead by donating television service.
The above-mentioned Department of Homeland Security was instituted by an allegedly conservative president.
Look out, Ms. Whitehead; you ain’t gonna like what a liberal administration does with your healthcare.

I doubt Barrow Journal has any limitations on how many letters they'll publish from one person. Why not take each of these ideas and make a letter out of each?
