Man arrested while looking for “homeboys”

When police arrived, they found Dmmanuel Smith, 18, of 101 Carriage Court in Athens sitting in a parked vehicle with two other occupants.

When asked what they were doing, the occupants said they were trying to find their “homeboy’s” house and had pulled over in order to call him.

During a search of the vehicle, officer located marijuana throughout the interior.

Smith admitted the marijuana was his and assured the officer that no more marijuana was present because he had smoked all of it.

Still suspicious, the officer returned to the vehicle to conduct a more thorough search. On his way back to the car, the officer noticed a clear baggie on the ground near Smith. The officer identified the substance inside the bag as marijuana.

Smith later explained that he had been able to drop the marijuana on the ground without anyone seeing him do it because he had a hole in his pocket.

Smith was arrested and charged with possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.
