CERT class trains for medical disasters

The class included topics such as performing victim assessments, opening airways, controlling bleeding and rendering basic medical treatments.

CERT President Bob Richardson said the current class is a great group of volunteers.

“We appreciate all they are doing as well as all the support the community has [shown] for CERT this year,” he said.

Richardson said CERT is already receiving applications for the spring 2010 class.

“That shows how involved in their community the citizens of Barrow County are,” he said.

CERT prepares volunteers to assist in the event of a natural or manmade disaster.
