The Auburn Police Department has closed James Shackelford Park due to dangerous conditions caused by heavy rains.
The chief of police ordered the park closed due to the hazard presented by rising waters in Sandy Creek and the Appalachee River.
Charlotte Ewing of the Auburn Public Works department said no damage or injuries have been reported so far.
"It is really muddy down there and the water is rising," she said.
Ewing said Sandy Creek was within feet of breaching its bank. Ewing had no information about the level of the Appalachee River.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.
