House destroyed by fire

Barrow County Fire and Emergency Services personnel were dispatched at 5:30 p.m. in response to a 911 call.

The home was 70 percent involved by the time firefighters arrived at the scene, according to public information officer Lt. Scott Dakin.

“Due to the amount of fire upon arrival, firefighters had to fight the fire from outside the structure,” said Dakin.

The home was unoccupied and undergoing renovations.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
