Winder Police were called to a residence on Ashwood Drive last Wednesday after the homeowner discovered several pet birds dead inside their pen.
The victim told police she heard muffled gun shots earlier in the day, but had not been alarmed because her neighbors frequently shoot guns in their back yard.
When the woman checked on her pets later that afternoon, she found two hens, a rooster and a duck dead of gunshot wounds. A small brown rooster and a white and black hen were missing.
According to the police report, the animals appeared to have been killed by a small caliber weapon.
Two dogs, a hen and a duck were unharmed in the incident.
The victim said she did not know of anyone who would want to harm her animals, but admitted the ones killed were the noisiest of her pets.
Police are investigating.
