The postseason honors continue to roll in for the baseball players at Winder-Barrow and Apalachee High School.
Following a season which ended with a trip to the second round of the Class AAAA playoffs, the WBHS Diamond Doggs had two players earn first team All-Region honors. Junior Taylor Hinshaw was named first team at first base while teammatae Jeremy Donaldson, a senior, was named first team at third base.
Junior Dustin Dunagan was named as one of five “Pitchers of the Year.” Other pitchers selected included Rockdale County’s Buck Farmer, Heritage’s Anthony Bazzani, Loganville’s Casey Shiver and Loganville’s Clay Garner.
Sophomore Max Pentecost was named second team All-Region for coach Brian Smith.
Previously, Dunagan was named All-Northeast Georgia after compiling a 9-4 record this spring with a 2.03 earned run average with 121 strikeouts.
Donaldson and Pentecost were second team All-Northeast Georgia and Hinshaw was honorable mention.
For the AHS Diamond Wildcats, junior Hunter Coleman was a first team All-Region outfielder while senior Justin Shultz was named second team.
Both WBHS and AHS are currently involved in summer league play as both programs prepare for the upcoming 2010 campaigns.
Loganville’s Jeff Segars was named Coach of the Year for 8-AAAA. Segars led his Red Devils to the state semifinals after a state title in 2008.
