A Statham teen was arrested last week for allegedly attempting to cash $2,850 in fake money orders at the Walmart in Winder.
Michael Robert Pelletier, 17, of 2248 Wagon Wheel Trail, Statham, was charged with three felony counts of forgery in the first degree.
According to a Barrow County Sheriff’s Office report, a store employee called the sheriff’s office Thursday afternoon after verifying that the three, $950 Money Gram money orders were no good.
Money Gram in 2008 had issued money orders with the same account, checking and routing numbers, but the legitimate money orders had been cashed.
Pelletier told Deputy Adam Hunter that he had done some online work but never for the company, D.W. Optics in Westchester, Penn., which is the name listed as the payor on the money orders, and was not expecting such large payments from anyone, according to an BCSO report on the incident.
I'm now 19 and experiencing being a dad. I must say although it feels good it's still hard. I knew it wouldn't be easy but to be honest, the hard part is having to balance time. My daughter is great and makes managing her never dreadful. -Teen dad
