The Barrow County planning commission has recommended approval for a personal care home to be located at 294 Tanners Bridge Road in Bethlehem.
Applicant Joy Murray said there is only one personal care home in the city and she believes there is a need for affordable senior care in the area.
“There are so many people who cannot afford to go to a nursing home,” Murray said.
The special use permit request will go before the Barrow County Board of Commissioners at the May 27 meeting.
In other business, the planning commission recommended approval for:
a rezone request from AR to R-1 for property located at 1255 Foster Road. Applicant Debra Fulcher is requesting to split the property into two one-acre tracts with an existing mobile home on each tract.
two board initiated rezones to correct inadvertent errors on the Barrow County official zoning map based on previous rezone cases. The affected properties are located at 529 Patrick Mill Road and 602 Kennedy-Sells Road.
The Barrow County planning commission meets on the third Thursday of each month at the Barrow County Administration Building, 233 East Broad Street in Winder.
