Dear Editor:
After reading about the ongoing discussion the past couple of months concerning the state of disrepair the newly constructed Winder-Barrow High School athletic fieldhouse is in, I must say I find this entire saga to be a disgrace.
It is ridiculous for a newly constructed facility, which cost as much as this one did to construct, is already in need of numerous repairs.

I agree completely. We need Phil Jones back at Winder-Barrow High School. This fieldhouse funny business also enforces my opinion on this.

I think schools have lost sight of their priorities. Too much emphasis is placed on playing games. Sports and recreation needs to take a back seat to learning academic skills, which is what schools are for. Personally, I think the school system needs to slash the budgets for sports and extra curricular activities and funnel the money into academic programs.
