The former parts manager for Northeast Georgia Motorsports in Hoschton was killed Saturday in a motorcycle wreck on Hwy. 53 in Barrow County.
David Paul Hatcher, 42, of Hwy. 332 in Hoschton and formerly of Statham, was pronounced dead at Barrow Regional Medical Center.
According to a Winder Police Department press release, Hatcher was driving a 2004 Kawasaki north on Hwy. 53 south of Sims Road, when at about 6:30 p.m. the cycle struck another northbound vehicle.
The Winder Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident and has not released the name of the second driver.

The road has 3 lanes & DOT should turn the center lane into a turning lane. This would have prevented several accidents. Several teenagers use Sims Road as their route to high school. Contact our State Representatives as well as DOT. I would appreciate any concerned citizens taking time to help make this highway safer by contacting DOT & our State Representatives.
fatally injured. I am a 911 operator, also a deputy sheriff. I received the news of his death while I was at work at 911. This, as any death was shocking and tragic.
I understand from my friends in this area this is a very dangerous road and many accidents occur.
I want to thank you in your efforts to help make Hwy 53 safer. Hopefully DOT will look into this matter very soon before another life
is lost.
Thank you so much for your concern.
