Acting on a tip, narcotics investigators from the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office on Monday went to a home in Statham and busted a 55-year-old resident for manufacturing marijuana.
Lonnie Jones of 3139 Hwy. 330 was charged with trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, manufacturing marijuana, and possession of marijuana.
“Deputies recovered 78 marijuana plants and 3 ounces of dried marijuana,” states a press release. “The plants themselves were young, but each had the potential of producing approximately one pound of marijuana when fully grown.”
The dried marijuana has a street value of $2,500, and the plants at maturity could have produced $85,000 in sales, according to investigators.
Congratulations. The Drug War is Over. No one will ever be able to buy weed again. Whether you agree or disagree with a right of a person to do what he wants with his own body, you have to see the Drug War is a complete failure. It only creates cash flow for the justice system and endangers regular citizens by driving the business underground. Did prohibition of alcohol work?
Who is the victim in this crime? Whose rights were violated by Mr. Jones growing some reefer on his property? Can our law enforcement officials find any property crimes or violent crimes to investigate? Damn!!!

It's awesome to read stories like this. Marijuana is the gateway drug. Since its mere possession and certainly its manufacture are real crimes in the state of Georgia, our police departments should continue to aggressively seek out and prosecute people like Jones. Keep up the great work.
We sure are glad you live on the left coast also! Now stay there.

Really? Gateway to what? The only reason a MJ user would use another drug is if they couldn't get MJ. Maybe thats where the problem starts. Its 100% safe and can't kill you. Can't say that about too many pharmasuticals. And I m willing to bet that he broke no other laws nor had any history of violence. More people use MJ than you would ever imagine. Would you feel the same way if one of your family members got popped with it? The real problem is some don't have the capacity to lead a normal productive life while using it. Hope u don't get cancer cause its used in some form as a pain killer maronol. U are an ignorant doooooooshhhh. We need the industry to profit america, we are the biggest consumers "."

We also thank God you live on the west coast. The vast majority of folks around here hope you and your ideals remain there.
you kind sir lack the intellect as well as capacity to comprehend the uselessness of enforcing marijuana laws. Go take your tylenol before you go to bed, because 10 of those will be your last nights rest, Marijuana cant even kill you jacktard.
I dont even smoke pot and i dont see the point in it being illegal, lol.
