Acting on a tip, narcotics investigators from the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office on Monday went to a home in Statham and busted a 55-year-old resident for manufacturing marijuana.
Lonnie Jones of 3139 Hwy. 330 was charged with trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, manufacturing marijuana, and possession of marijuana.
“Deputies recovered 78 marijuana plants and 3 ounces of dried marijuana,” states a press release. “The plants themselves were young, but each had the potential of producing approximately one pound of marijuana when fully grown.”
The dried marijuana has a street value of $2,500, and the plants at maturity could have produced $85,000 in sales, according to investigators.
