Winder couple arrested for online prostitution

A local couple was arrested Friday night for allegedly using the Craigslist Internet site for online prostitution.

After receiving several tips on the Winder Police Department’s anonymous tip line, an undercover officer made contact with the woman, who called herself “Miss Red” online, according to a police department press release.

The officer went to the woman’s home in the 300 block of Cedar Valley Trail in Winder and after striking a deal, notified Winder officers and Barrow County sheriff’s deputies, who arrived at the house and made the arrests.

Elizabeth C. McCannon was charged with prostitution and with keeping a place of prostitution.

Her husband, Richard McCannon, was charged with being a party to the crime of prostitution, being a party to the crime of keeping a place of prostitution, and pimping.

It is good to see the City and County Law Enforcement working together. I can count on 1 hand how many times you read about it before the new Sheriff. Now you read about something every week. Great job to both departments.

Who cares? Not the law enforcement in this coutny. My neighbor is doing business as usual at this moment. Selling drugs. A different car comes in every 20 minutes, stays for about 5 then leaves. I have talked to the drug enforcement folks over and over and over. Good job catching the gal selling tail!! Meanwhile, ............well I have stopped even expecting more, even with a new sheriff. Barrow is one big landfill of trash. Dope is everywhere and you are busting this?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go guys!!!

I think the police should focus more on illegal immigrants, burglars and child molesters. Those are the ones that need to be locked up. That should keep the police busy and earn their pay. Anyway who cares if she is selling it or giving it away! What difference does it really make? This is only a crime in bible thumpers minds. What a joke!

Most people who sell their bodies for prostitution sell drugs or take them too and probably do other thing like molest children as well.Its kind of like only being able to arrest a mobster for tax evasion instead of all the true crimes they do. at least it gets some of the scum of the earth of our streets and neighborhoods for a while.

Prostitution should be legalized. As it has been in other states and countries. Ditto drugs. The so-called "war on drugs" is futile and a waste of billions of dollars. if cretins want to lose their souls to cocaine, etc., let them. The state of Ga is totally hypocritical when it comes to gambling; they sanction it in the form of the lottery (a tax on stupidity), but raid a few idiots playing poker. As for prostitution, it's a business transaction between 2 consenting adults. it should be no business of the State. It's actually a lot less hypocritical than marriage, an institution sanctioned by the State and supported by fairy tale-religion. People are going to take drugs, pay for sex and gamble. enforcement of these "laws" is absurd, but, hey, it makes a few cops feel big.

No, a complaint doesn’t mean an investigation will be done. I’ve complained
three times in the past year about my neighbor’s drug dealings and nothing
has been done. “Miss Red” was working in her own home behind closed doors
between two consenting adults. Her ad on Craig’s List plainly stated that
"raincoats are required"

Legal or not, there should at least be truth in advertising. Look at the ads for Miss Red on Craigslist, this is not the woman in the pictures.

Regardless, who wants your wife to be used in this manner? These people are sick, and need to get a real Job, lying on your back will get you killed these days!!! From the looks of the husband he only sits around and eats and it must be a really hard up men that would pay for this woman!!! God help this world!!!!
