Ernest Marion “Major” Perkins, 75, of Winder, died Sunday, April 6, 2008.
He was the son of the late Ernest and Emily Bell Sims Perkins, and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Athens. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1952 to 1956. He was a graduate of Bogart High School and was retired from North West Airlines as a station manager.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Hammond Perkins; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Tiffany Perkins, Bartlett, Tenn., Ernie and Sherry Perkins, Temple; daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie and Ricky Hayes and Susan Price, all of Winder, Emily and Bill Watson, Moreland, Kellie and Sam McCullough, Durango, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Miriam O’Kelly and Jean Kittle, both of Winder.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 9, at 2 p.m., at Smith Memory Chapel with the Revs. Mark Harper, Beecher Mathes and Wade Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Hebron Christian Church cemetery.
