Connell steps down as Bulldogg coach

Veteran Winder-Barrow High School boys basketball coach Eli Connell suddenly stepped down from his position this week, the Barrow Journal confirmed Wednesday morning.

Connell, who had been the head coach for the Bulldogg program for the past six seasons, guided WBHS to a subregion title with a 9-1 record in 2008-09. His Bulldoggs were upset in the quarterfinals of the Region 8-AAAA tournament by Loganville, who eventually won the tourney.
