For the second time in three days, a single-car wreck has claimed the life of a local resident.
Twenty-two-year-old James Justin Davis of Winder died today at the scene of an early-morning wreck on Carl-Cedar Hill Road near Pierce Road. Sheriff’s deputies believe he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver and a second passenger were taken to area hospitals. Their names and medical conditions were not released in a Barrow County Sheriff’s Office press release.
The accident happened at 4:29 a.m. When deputies arrived, they found involved the 2002 Buick Regal at rest on the side of the road.
Early Sunday, 37-year-old Michael Bernard Smith of Statham was killed in a wreck on Hwy. 82 near the Barrow-Jackson county line. That wreck happened at about 12:28 a.m., when Smith’s westbound 1989 Cadillac crossed over into the eastbound lane of traffic, left the roadway, and struck several trees.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating both accidents.
“The Barrow County Sheriff's Office would like to remind motorists to ensure that they always wear their seatbelts,” states today’s press release.

I agree with you. I have lived on this road for 8 years now and in one of the worst curves. I have lost count at how many times I have seen wrecks near my house. Something needs to be done, people fly around the curves like its an interstate yet the speed limit is 35. Come on deputy's and Auburn police and set up radar, get the people scared to speed on this road like they are on countyline-Auburn. Please do something soon!
Yeah, more radar, more revenue, more lard-ass barney fifes. Actually, fans, speeding = darwinism in action. You johnny-come-latelies need to go back whence you came if a little wild & free jars your nervous little sensibilities.
