Man arrested in Barrow church arson case

One man has been charged in the 2005 arson of New Life Deliverance Church in Barrow County. Maurice Arnold, 24, of Dacula, was charged last week by the Barrow County Sheriff's Office with arson, conspiracy to commit arson and vandalism to a place of worship. He is the son of the church's pastor.

Barrow Sheriff's Office officials said in a news release that it, along with the ATF and state Fire Marshall's Office had been probing the case over the last three years. Evidence at the scene indicated gasoline was used to start the fire.

Officials said the investigation continues to see if any other people were involved in the incident.
