Jessica Fox is in custody.
The 28-year-old woman who allegedly drove over a Statham Police Department officer has been arrested by the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, a release said Tuesday morning.
The BCSO had been requested by the Statham Police Department to help track down Fox after the injuries sustained by Officer Marc Lofton of the Statham Police Department during a Saturday traffic stop.
On Aug. 27 at approximately 5 p.m., Officer Marc Lofton was injured while he was attempting to place Fox under arrest following a traffic stop on Dooley Town Road, when Fox reportedly put the vehicle into drive and sped off while dragging Lofton, before ultimately running over both of his legs.
Fox fled the scene in the vehicle, which was later recovered on Corbin Drive in Statham.
Officer Lofton was transported to an area hospital. Updates on his health have not been issued although reports indicated he suffered a concussion.
“I, along with the guys at Statham Police Department and the entire City of Statham, are greatly appreciative of the hard work and dedication of resources put forth by the Barrow Sheriff’s Office to bring this nightmare to a conclusion,” said Statham Police Chief Allan Johnston. “Just a great example of professionalism, work ethic and bonding of the men and women of the thin blue line.”

That thin blue line so few support... Thank you Sheriff Smith, the BCSO, and the Statham police. Job Well Done!! I hope Officer Lofton makes a speedy recovery.
I agree with the drug issues and the minor offenses of which she was guilty, but she could've fought that in court. I don't believe that drugs should be illegal, nor do I believe that we must be licensed to travel and register our own property with the government in order to use it, but there is a right way to go about protesting such things. The fact of the matter is that she has three kids that she has neglected for the last four years (at least) because she has chosen drugs over them, and honestly I have sympathy only for them.
If DFCS had notified police about her for whatever reason, then he was doing his job. Not only that, but courts have agreed that officers doing traffic stops have jurisdiction in cities and counties, regardless of if it is the by which they are employed. I don't agree with it, but that is something you have to take up with your local, county and state governments if you want it to change.
I've seen the video, and apparently we have different perceptions of this incident.
With that said, you're not a medical or psychological expert who has studied the history of Jessica Fox. You can objectively see that drug use/addiction tends to be a cycle that seems to be hereditary or learned from parents/family members, but it is no excuse to not getting help needed in order to break the cycle. A parent's number one job is to think about and do what is best for your children, and at that, Jessica has failed miserably.
I would also like to discourage you from these ad hominem rebuttals against those with whom you disagree, as that adds a logical fallacy to your arguments and therefore makes you less credible in this discussion.
rehab but also through a solid and consistent support group to help her with her mental health issues.by the way i saw the unedites version of the video and it makes lfton look like shit she didn't injur that idion he threw himself in that car after he tased her a few times, he pulled the wheel to the left, fell out of the car, and ran over his own damn self. for future reference you may advise him that the fred flintstone method of stopping of a vehicle hasn't worked in eons. we have power lock breaks he should try em someday......perhaps in his own car
