Dear Editor:
My name is Schuyler Dillard. I am employed with the Barrow County Sheriff's office. The Probate Judge of Barrow County recently received a phone call from the Probate Judge in Wilkes Co. in reference to finding my home address and phone number. Judge Brown took it upon herself to investigate and call for information from the Barrow Co. sheriff without any regard for my personal safety. How can you positively identify a person over the phone? Judge Brown referred her questions to Major Kogod, who reviewed my personnel file and disclose my residential address and telephone to Judge Burton, Probate Judge of Wilkes County.
This was done without my prior knowledge and permission for said information without my consent. Under the current password protected system we have in place, no changes can be made in regards to an employee's file unless authorized by the employee or human resources department (My address was change by someone!)
On Tuesday March 25, 2008 I received a call from a Wilkes County reporter in regards to me being disqualified for office of Wilkes County sheriff because of my residency. Also on this day, the Barrow Co. Sheriff's Office ask each employee on D-shift for their current address and phone number. How convenient for this information to be requested at this time. Major Kogod's actions to release said information without regards to verifying whom the caller was and secondly following proper protocol (signed consent form from employee) when releasing personal information. Lastly, must I remind the voting public of Darwin Brown and just how potentially dangerous this could have been for me, my children, my family and friends.
Sincerely,
Schuyler Dillard
