For the first meeting of 2016, the Auburn City Council, on Jan. 7, honored several employees for their service to the city and Mayor Linda Blechinger and two council members were sworn in to serve another term.
City attorney Jack Wilson performed the swearing in ceremony for Mayor Blechinger, who begins her third term as the city’s leader.
Blechinger thanked her family for their support and she thanked everyone for their prayers for her and the city as they move forward to make Auburn a city to be proud of.
Blechinger then performed the swearing in ceremony for incumbent council members Peggy Langley and Jay Riemenschneider, as they begin another term on the city council.
Council member Bill Ackworth was sworn in to serve as the 2016 Mayor Pro Tem, after a unanimous vote by the council. Blechinger performed the swearing-in ceremony.
The employees recognized for their years of service to the city included: Michelle Walker, Angelia Childs and Charles Hubbard, five years; and Mai Chang, Dennis Moore, William Reyes, Wanda Weaver and Meg Grant, 10 years.
