Barrow County firefighters said a two-story house south of Winder had flames showing through the roof when crew first arrived on Wednesday, March 26.
“Our crews were able to make an effective interior attack and stop the fire spread,” said Lt. Scott Dakin of the Barrow County Fire and Emergency Services. “However, due to the headway of fire upon our arrival the house suffered extensive damage.”
Firefighters remained on the scene of the house located in the 800 block of Kendal Park Drive for several hours performing salvage and overhaul.
The American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the family. At this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Barrow Fire Investigation Unit.
